For many hard working people in Collier County the loss of a job or a sudden illness can quickly lead to homelessness. Individuals and families at-risk of homelessness often need only temporary services to pull through an unfortunate situation. Many will recover with coordinated case management and emergency financial assistance.
The Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP) prevents individuals and families at risk of homelessness from becoming homeless and assists persons experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed and stabilized. To be eligible, households total income must be at or below 50 percent of Area median Income AND at risk of losing its housing; AND Meet both of the following circumstances:
1. No appropriate subsequent housing options have been identified
2. The household lacks the financial resources and support networks needed to obtain immediate housing or remain in its existing housing.
For HPRP, the Case Manger must document that the household is homeless or would become homeless, but for the HPRP assistance.
